FX’s critically acclaimed anthology series Fargo (2014-) will premiere a brand new fifth season this year after fans waited patiently for nearly three years.
It’s impossible not to look forward to the much-anticipated new season of this wonderfully dark award-winning series, which promises a brilliant cast and another chapter full of intrigue, treachery, crime, and thrills amid the frigid hinterlands, even though the official release date has yet to be disclosed.
The series is an homage to the Coen Brothers’ film and their filmmaking talent by television writer-producer Noah Hawley, despite the fact that many people mistake it for a sequel or remake of some form of Joel and Ethan Coen’s namesake Academy Award-winning black comedy crime picture.
A trailer for Season 5 of Fargo has been released. The teaser offers as a brief introduction to the new central character performed by Juno Temple, beginning off cheerful and colorful before taking a grim turn.
On September 12, Entertainment Weekly unveiled some stills from the upcoming fifth season of Fargo. A second Season 5 Fargo trailer was released on September 26. Jon Hamm’s “New Cowboy in Town” role is the focus of the clip.
Yet another teaser, this one also centering on Joe Keery, was posted on October 10. You can watch this really short footage in the embedded player below.

Season 5 of Fargo will launch on FX on November 21, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, marking the official premiere date after a long delay. It was feared that Season 5 may be delayed until 2024 due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, which would have been the longest gap between seasons in the show’s history.
New episodes of Season 5 of Fargo will premiere on FX every Monday and be accessible on Hulu the following day. Fargo, created by FX, debuted on Hulu in 2015. All four seasons of the anthology are currently available to stream in their entirety on Hulu, making it easy to catch up on the stories you may have missed.
As an alternative, episodes from the first four seasons can be purchased on Apple TV, Google Play, Amazon, and Vudu.
How Many Episodes Are There in ‘Fargo’ Season 5?

When and Where Did ‘Fargo’ Season 5 Film?
Soon after the renewal announcement in October 2022, production on Fargo Season 5 began in Calgary, Alberta. Later, filming resumed at a variety of Calgary venues.
Who’s In the ‘Fargo’ Season 5 Cast?
The fantastic revolving cast is one of the show’s best features, along with the occasional recurring ones. Season each season, the show boasts a new cast of A-list actors and actresses from the worlds of film and television. It should come as no surprise that Hawley and company have assembled another stellar cast for Season 5.
Soon after Season 5’s renewal, Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Juno Temple (Ted Lasso), and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) were cast as significant roles in June 2022. Important roles were later played by Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever), and Lamorne Morris (New Girl).
In November 2022, Dave Foley (Young Sheldon) joined the cast as a series regular; he was joined by David Rysdahl (Oppenheimer), Sam Spruell (Doctor Who), Jessica Pohly (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday), and Nick Gomez (She-Hulk).
What Is ‘Fargo’ Season 5 About?
Apart from this, the rest of the narrative information were kept under wraps for a time, but we now have a rough concept of what the plot will be. Expect to see a lot of Jon Hamm’s character, Roy Tillman, this season as he tries to track down Juno Temple’s character, “Dot” Lyon, an apparently normal housewife.
Tillman has to deal with his son Gator (Joe Keery), who both idolizes Roy and falls short of his father’s expectations, so while he is enthusiastic about the potential of arresting a criminal, he also has to deal with his relationship with his son. There is a character named “Ole Munch” (Sam Spruell) who becomes friends with the Sheriff.
Wayne (David Rysdahl), Dot’s husband, loves her too much to remain away, so he enlists the help of his mother, Lorraine Lyon (Jennifer Jason Leigh), the CEO of the most reputable debt collection agency in the country, to keep Dot’s history a secret from his family.
Dot accepts her mother-in-law’s help since she has nowhere else to go and additional law enforcement is closing in on her, and her mother-in-law, in turn, consults with her advisor, Dave Foley.
Although it appears that the tale will center on a wanted lady going on the run, murder has played a significant role in nearly every season thus far. However, the current Western-style narrative does hint at the show’s hallmark elements: nuanced characters, convoluted plots, and black humor.
