Tanjiro’s first demon transformation occurs in chapter 201 of the manga, during the Sunrise Countdown storyline. In the opening of the chapter titled “The King of Demons,” Muzan considers how he narrowly avoided being killed at the moment of his birth.
Love was the only thing that kept him alive at that critical moment. And it turns out that Muzan is the one who is related to Tanjiro by blood. This allowed him to transform Tanjiro into a demon successfully.
All witnesses gasp in disbelief as they see a Hashira change into a monster. Despite Giyu’s best efforts, Tanjiro just grew more assertive. Only because he cared about his friends and sister did Tanjiro decide to return to human form. When can we expect to see this development in the anime adaptation? Here, you’ll find out.
