Even when she was thought to be dating From Justin to Kelly costar Justin Guarini in the early 2000s, the “Miss Independent” singer, who catapulted to stardom after winning American Idol’s first season in 2002, hasn’t said much about her personal life before marrying Blackstock.
Clarkson didn’t disclose their relationship until 2015 when she revealed that she and the season 1 American Idol runner-up had a brief romance early in their careers.
“I think any two individuals who have been forced together that much, you can’t fight it,” the Texas native stated at the time during an interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
In 2012, Guarini denied that the musicians were romantically involved.
“There was a rumour,” she says. At the time, he told Yahoo Music, “We’ve simply always been such good friends.” “It was strange, guy.” In the episode, she played my sister, and subsequently, we collaborated on a film. We had a great time, I’d say. Yeah.”
In February 2014, the Georgia native confirmed Clarkson’s account of their relationship, telling Pennsylvania concertgoers that the twosome was briefly romantic while filming 2003’s From Justin to Kelly.

Clarkson’s attitude toward love, on the other hand, appears to have changed after she met Blackstock, whom she married in 2013 after two years of dating. In October 2012, the “Piece by Piece” singer told Ryan Seacrest that she knew Reba McEntire’s ex stepson was The One from the moment they met.
“We were just in a room together, and then he came up and said he was from the same hometown as me, and I was like, ‘Oh, we’re getting married,'” Clarkson revealed in an interview with KIIS-FM, noting that she was dating Blackstock at the time. “That was me. I was on the lookout when he became single.”
“Once you eventually fall in love with someone and you are so comfortable with them, it makes you more comfortable in your skin,” the Grammy winner remarked, who shares daughter River and son Remington with the talent manager. It improves your artist’s confidence and comfort. He knows I’m smitten with him.”
The couple’s relationship, however, did not continue, with Clarkson filing for divorce in June 2020. A source informed Us Weekly that the musician was “open to dating again” after they settled in March 2022.

Justin Guarini
Clarkson fuelled rumours that she was dating the show’s runner-up after winning season 1 of American Idol in 2002. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen more than a decade later, the “Stronger” singer addressed what transpired between her and Guarini.
“We didn’t date during Idol, as everyone assumed,” Clarkson revealed in 2015. “But we did date during — I feel like we weren’t dating during [From Justin to Kelly], but I feel like maybe we were,” Clarkson continued. “We did date for a while.”
Graham Colton
After his band, The Graham Colton Band opened for Clarkson’s Breakaway and Hazel Eyes Tours in 2015, the Voice coach fell in love with the artist. After six months of dating, the couple called it quits later that year.

The Yellowcard singer briefly dated Clarkson in 2006.
Brandon Blackstock
Blackstock and the “Since U Been Gone” singer started dating in 2011 and announced their engagement in December 2012. After a year of dating, the couple married and welcomed two children, River and Remington. After nearly seven years of marriage, Clarkson filed for divorce in June 2020. In September 2021, the singer was legally proclaimed single. In March of the following year, a judge approved their deal.
