When is The Wheel of Time season 2 out? Amazon’s fantasy TV series, The Wheel Of Time was renewed for season 2 before it aired on the streaming service. This is what we know so far about its return. Spoilers to follow!
The Wheel of Time season 1 gave us what we’ve been missing since Game Of Thrones ended. A high concept political fantasy world with a much-needed feminist twist. The first season consisted of only eight episodes, but they were jam-packed with the story and setting up the world. Magic, warriors, and dragons are all part of the mix (but not that kind, not yet anyway). What can we expect from the second season of The Wheel of Time?
With fourteen books in the Robert Jordan series, showrunner Rafe Judkins will have plenty of material to work with when telling his version of the story. We were left wondering how Egwene (Madeleine Madden) managed to bring Nyneave (Zo Robins) back from the brink of death. What will become of Rand, the reborn dragon (played by Josh Stradowski) in the upcoming episodes? Barney Harris, where are you? In the wake of her loss of contact with the One Power, will Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Lan (Daniel Henney) reunite?
When Is the Wheel of Time Season 2 Out?
Anytime between October 2022 and early 2023 is possible for the start of The Wheel of Time season 2. The showrunner, Rafe Judkins, has teased us with a few details about the upcoming season, which began filming in July 2021.
Who’s in the Wheel of Time Season 2 Cast?
New and expanded characters will be introduced in the second season of The Wheel of Time. Rumours abound as to why Barney Harris will no longer be playing Mat, but they all seem to be speculation without any official confirmation from any party.
You may recognise Dónal Finn, the actor best known for his roles in The Witcher and How to Build a Girl. One-eyed soldier Uno Nomesta (Guy Roberts) from the last series will have a recurring role in the new series. Masema Dagar, a soldier turned prophet, is played by Arnas Fedaravicius (The Last Kingdom).
Elayne Trakand will be played by Netflix’s Young Wallander’s Ceara Coveney. An Aes Sedai of Green Ajah, she is a royal descendant and a gifted channeler. As yet unnamed characters, Meera Syal (Yesterday, The Kumars) and Natasha O’Keefe (Peaky Blinders) will appear alongside her on the show.
Animashaun will return as Local, according to Rafe Judkins, who spoke with Deadline. Although Ogier’s fate has not been confirmed, he and the other actors have been filming in Prague.
The series will, however, include the deaths of some characters who do not perish in the books. So even if you’ve read the books, you may be in for a surprise. It’s been suggested by Judkins that he’d like to see the show run for eight seasons, which may or may not allow them to tell the main arcs of Robert Jordan’s fourteen novels.
What Will Happen in the Wheel of Time Season 2 Plot?
The first episode of The Wheels of Time will be titled ‘A Taste of Solitude,’ according to a tweet from the official Twitter account. Title of a chapter from book six of the series. The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn will be interwoven in Season 2, according to Empire Spoiler Special Film Podcast guest Rafe Judkins.
These won’t be exactly like the books, but they’ll be adapted to fit the TV format. Unlike the first season, this one will have eight episodes. The appearances of Moiraine and Lan have also had to be beefed up, as they only appear in one chapter in book two of the series. This would be a disservice to Rosamund Pike and Daniel Henney’s abilities and appeal.
With the help of Brandon Sanderson and Harriet Jordan’s widow, Judkins explained how he reworked the first novel’s ending, along with Sanderson’s co-writer on the final three books. To make something that Jordan would be proud of and perhaps even improve upon the storytelling.
As a result, changes had to be made to the final confrontation between Rand and The Dark One, which had previously been a tangled mess. For the sake of the other cast members, the story was reworked to give them more to do in the final battle and to have it all happen simultaneously. As a result, we are left wondering if and how the five potential dragons will reunite in the next series.
When the original prophecies were made 3,000 years ago, there was a lot of debate about whether we would ever see more of the world as it was at the time. To begin with, we are shown a futuristic world with flying cars in the cold open of episode 8. Is there going to be more of this world in the series in the future? That brings us to the present situation.

What Questions Will the Wheel of Time Season 2 Answer?
Some of the first season’s fan questions have been answered by Judkins. This world’s mythology holds that death is the only thing that cannot be resurrected or reversed. Because of this, many people wondered how Egwene could bring Nyneave back from the dead.
Judkins promised his followers that he would make everything crystal clear. We don’t know if Egwene possesses a special ability or if Nyneave wasn’t dead as she appeared. The original five are still alive and well, but in a very different setting from the one they were originally introduced to.
Fans also wanted to know how Moiraine had managed to meet Susan in secret (Sophie Okonedo). They could have taken a ship, but why did they walk from The Two Rivers to the White Tower so far? As a fantasy fan, you can count on me asking why people don’t take shortcuts like flying to Mordor on an eagle instead of walking. Judkins confirmed the use of a very rare device for channelling one power in this scene. Who are we, after all, to question the work of these authors? They’ve thought of it all!
